Kate Winslet won the SAG Award on Sunday for best supporting actress – and this on top of her win at the Golden Globes. I haven’t seen “The Reader” but if you remember what Oprah said to Kate (“God bless your real breasts! In the breast scenes, when you are lying on your back …your breasts stay apart.. your breasts do what real breasts do!”) the Brit has a good shot at Best Supported Actress in the upcoming SAGging Globes Award as well. (I apologize for the breast jokes, but come on, you’re an A-list actress portraying a teacher who was a guard at Auschwitz — that doesn’t exactly sound like the log-line for a Spice Channel movie. It almost sounds like she must have campaigned for shirtlessness, doesn’t it? If that’s the case you get what you deserve — and by the way, Kate, call my office, I’ll get you the name of an excellent plastic surgeon if there’s a “The Reader 2.”)

Well, hello. Of course. Hollywood is all one big living soap opera. Who is dating who, who is sleeping with whom tonight, who is taking drugs, who is screaming at whom and who is going to be drunk. We all watch and wait. What are they wearing. What are they saying. What are they NOT saying. Who is what party. Who was not invited. Who is going to be the latest train wreck. People may not know the name of who is Chief Justice of the Supreme Court but we all know the names of Britney’s children, Paris Hilton’s boyfriends, and who said what about whom.
Kate Winset said: “Although I don’t know them, I do think about their situation. They’re like a walking soap opera, and the public wants to know what’s going to happen next. I didn’t choose this profession because I wanted to be famous. I come from a family of actors, who have often struggled, so I always thought I’d be lucky if I even got a job. I’m grateful for my success because of the freedom it’s given me as an actress. The downside is how much more publicly available you become. I don’t want Mia or Joe to think being famous is about wearing beautiful dresses – if you’re on a red carpet and wearing a fabulous frock, it’s the result of years of hard graft. “
Yes, Kate, it’s the result of a lot of hard work and for some actors and actresses, it’s about who slept with whom. We know what “really happens” in Hollywood.

Oprah spent a good deal of her interview with Kate Winslet raving about how great Winslet looks naked and how she admires Kate’s body, saying “God bless your real breasts! I love the fact that you have real breasts! I love that you have real breasts! Because in all the breast scenes, your breasts do what real breasts do.” Oprah went on to say, “There’s that wonderful moment, you are lying on your back and your breasts stay apart. If you look at women with not-real breasts their breasts are sticking straight up. That’s how you know. God bless your real breasts!” With the February sweeps period coming up, ABC’s promo department is already editing together a promo that’ll go something like this:
