Male movie stars are getting larger (fat)

Based on a close look at trailers, still photos and some films already released, at least a dozen male stars in some of the year’s most prominent movies have been adding on the pounds of late. Russell Crowe & Jeff Daniels in State of Play, Denzel Washington & John Travolta in The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, Leonardo Di Caprio in Shutter Island, Vince Vaughn in Couples Retreat, and more. Somehow male Hollywood stars will get leading roles when they gain weight but not the women. How many films is Kathleen Turner starring in these days? Double standard anyone?
